Color was exactly what I was looking for.

Did what I needed

Excellent color match for the door I needed. This was the best stain I have ever used. It is very watery but covers like a champ. Just a little bit is required. If you have a small project (like a door) I recommend buying the smaller can. This covers a lot.

This color and product was perfect for my shelfs gave it a beautiful look I recommend it

I used two coats and I achieved the color I was hoping to get. I used Dark Walnut over red oak hardwood. Then I gave it two coats of Varathane oil based polyurethane in the satin sheen. I will be redoing all my floors in this color.

I was very pleased with the outcome of the Early American Varathane Stain. I was in the process of installing a new set of oak steps to my basement and did not want something dark going down the steps, but not something really light that it would show every spot of dirt. I ended up only needing 2 coats of stain, but applied 3 coats of polyutherane so it would hold up to my kids running up and down them constantly. I think they turned out great, i even ended up staining my hand railing to match.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the small can of this product for a bench I made to sell. The color of this stain was so popular that I decided to get a quart and make more benches with this English Chestnut stain.

The shade of color this stain was perfect for what I was looking for. Sometimes it’s tricky trying to find that perfect stain. This one is right in between the dark color and a light color. I started burning wood to have the grain show more and this stain helped me get that look I was looking for.

Very nice color for our oak hardwood floors

Bought this based on the color samples in the store and get something not even close to the can or sample. stain was used on oak and looks more golden than brown

Wonderful color, coverage and depth, while bringing out the grain of the various types of wood I used it on. Easy to apply and smooth transition from bare wood to previously stained surfaces.

I must add my review to the list of other purchasers who did not get what they thought they were purchasing. Fortunately for me, I tested the Varathane stain on wood scraps identical to my project before attempting to use it. Definitely NOT hazelwood. It resembles chalky whitewash soap water. I stirred it thoroughly, kept it and the project at room temperature of 75 degrees, used the approved application brush, and an hour later applied another coat with the same dismal results. To make certain it wasn't a problem with the wood or my applicator, I grabbed a can of MinWax Gel Stain off my shelf, stirred it up and applied it to another scrap of the same wood using the same type applicator and got beautiful results immediately. Conclusion: This Varathane stain is simply HORRID. I am returning it to Home Depot. If I have to go to another store to buy MinWax products, I will do so.

Great Color! It made our Siberian elm live edge slab match the alder doors perfectly.

This stain went on flawlessly and dries quickly. I was able to top coat it with water based poly in one day. I recommend using this NATURAL color stain on Colorado Beetle Kill Pine it really brings out the colors!

This stain is perfect for use when layering with another stain. To update my oak stained cabinets, I used this stain with a brown color wash. The resulting color is warm and rich looking.

I used this product to stain my faux-wood garage doors and they turned out amazingly well! I simply brushed this product on, waited a minute, and then very gently wiped it off with a soft rag. The doors look brand new as you can see from the attached photo. The product is oil based, which is nice for exterior use since it repels water. Make sure to have paint thinner on hand for clean up.

Loved the color and the coverage of this stain. Just bought a month ago and use it for all my craft stained wood to all match in my house.

This product was great

This was a customer requested color for a couple pieces of furniture that I was building. It has a dark brown with a hint of red color.

By far I don’t see it as pictures...Whitewashed? By far not as in description

Did not have a red undertone which I was avoiding, just a the perfect dark brown!

Really like this stain color. It gave a nice finish to pine boards that inwas installing. A little goes a long way.
