The outdoor switch enables you to wirelessly control your home's outdoor lighting and appliances, including seasonal and landscape lighting, fountains and pumps, letting you turn lights on and off or Schedule a timed event from anywhere in the world, at any time of the day. The weather-resistant housing with a protective outlet cover safeguards the outlet from dirt and debris when not in use and its discreet black color blends in with any outdoor environment. A:  A few ideas, Since this a smart switch it needs to have constant power running thru it . We have 4 of these units all working without this issue. Check your bulb on your light if its LED this could be the issue replace it with another . Try another socket see if the issues follows . Check the plug and circuit your putting this device too has a proper ground that is earthed and the neutral wire has no issues. Last you could install a Zener Diode which will absorb the trickle of energy.

Looks as if 32-104 degrees (F) SPECIFICATIONS Power 120VAC, 60Hz Signal (Frequency) 908.4 / 916 MHz Maximum load for the Z-Wave controlled outlet: 600W Incandescent, ½ HP Motor or 1800W Resistive (15A). Range: Up to 150 feet line of sight between the Wireless Controller and the closest Z-Wave receiver module. Operating Temperature Range: 32-104° F (0-40° C) Suitable for outdoor use in damp locations. Specifications subject to change without notice due to continuing product improvement.

            A:  This needs to be plugged into a wall socket in order to operate. If plugged into 110V a charger will work. It is not a portable devise.

            Requested this Z-wave outdoor home automation power outlet to control my outdoor holiday decorations as well as the lighting going around my fence in my backyard. However, when I read the paperwork, I discovered that this outdoor power outlet not only does not shield the plug in location from rain (unless the power plugin rubber shield is blocking the plug), but apparently the entire device is not rated for anything near the sub-zero temperatures we get in the Chicagoland area during the winter time. For this reason, this Z-wave device will be restricted to either our enclosed porch or to the basement for power tools or something. I do want to say though that this Z-wave power outlet actually flipped its state from Off to On, and back to Off more quickly than the competitor Z-wave power outlet I previously reviewed for Home Depot Seeds reviewer program (and currently still utilize).

            I’m a newbie to the home automation world and when I saw this box with the outdoor lighting and it being controlled by a mobile device (AKA mobile phone); I’m thinking that’s for me. I have an outdoor fountain that I would love to put on a schedule that cuts it off at night. This would not only conserve energy but also extend the life of the pump. What I learned: You will need to purchase a “hub” in order to remotely access your smart switch. I watched a few videos and did a little research and you’ll find a wide variety of different hubs to choose from. For example, if you happen to have Amazon’s Alexa, you’ll probably want a hub that can talk to Alexa. The instructions want you to attach the unit to the wall. That would certainly make it look neater as opposed to just letting it dangle. However, it you have an outlet box that is attached to the wall (like mine) instead of imbedded in the wall, you will find it very difficult (or impossible) to stretch the short cable far enough to mount the unit. If you are able to attach it, it would not look very neat or professional. It needs to be 2-3 inches longer at a minimum. Please note that this is only a problem if your outlet box is attached to the outside of the wall (see my pic).

            These smart lighting controls are made of high quality materials. They have a good weight and feel solid. Weatherproof and so far temp proof as I have one outside for some patio lights and have not had one issue so far. The connection to my Z-wave account work very well so all I can say is the there work well and so far seem to last well. I prefer the outdoor units because of their quality construction.

With your controller this plug is controllable from anywhere , with event scheduling, and custom programming. ZWave plus is enhanced range, faster,larger memory and uses less energy. You can’t go wrong with this GE Smart outdoor product.

Their customer service is awful, too. They'll keep telling you to update your firmware, but the app will never let you and tells you something is wrong with your network, when it's their app.

We are unsure of your reference to an App interface not working, as this product does not come with an app, nor do we advertise an app to download in any Z-Wave literature or posting. Any app that will control this switch will come with the smart hub that would act as the controller and sends commands to our product.
