Great LED
Bought these when the price was lowered @ 5.97 each now they have increased the price back to original (9.97) so I will wait when this item or other LED bulds go to a lower price point. Overall the light output is exceptional time will tell if these last as long as intended??

Awesome product
This is the best bulb that I have ever used. The light is soft and bright and with 50% Duke energy rebate in certain stores, its a bargain.

    Good product
Would have rated all stars and full bars if price was lower - excellent quality, great for replacing the cfl's that contain mercury - like the instant on vs the warm-up of cfl. Light is also soft and warm

    Great product!
Color rendering is better than that of the typical warm white A19 incandescent bulbs and the 2800 K color rendering index (CRI) limits blue wavelengths typical of high-performance 'white' LED's that contribute to disability glare and have negative effects on people over 40 and those with low vision problems (i.e. cataracts, macular degeneration, etc.) Great job CREE. This one is a winner!

    Clean white light. Dimmable too!
Nice light, no yellow cast and doesn't distort colors. Very efficient too. Like the cool surface temp. usually associated with bulbs of this wattage/lumen output. (Very high output LED's do get considerably warm) but these are very cool even compared to CFL's. LED's will eventually replace all my light bulbs as the price continues to drop.

Produces great light very similar to incandescents
I really like the Cree LED light bulbs. I have just started switching out incandescents for new LED bulbs and have tried - and returned - many other brands as I feel that the Cree bulbs are by far the best for recreating the color and glow of the incandescents. Since I am only a couple months in to my usage of these bulbs and only have them in 4 or 5 fixtures, I can't comment on seeing any electrical savings yet or how long they truly last.

    LED bulb
This is a great substitute for regular and even CFL's. They are instant on and will last years and years. Great for those hard to reach areas that you have to bring out the ladder or hang over a railing.

    Very nice, economical light
Purchased this bulb for a hallway where the light is left on for many hours at a time. The light output is very equivalent to an incandescent light; the color is great and the brightness is exactly what I would expect.

    It's a light bulb
How can one review a product one week after purchase if it claims to be a 22 year light bulb? It lights. It's more attractive than a CFL since it looks like an old school light bulb. It doesn't contain Mercury, which is a big plus and it uses LESS wattage than a CFL for the same lumen output, so it is a greener product than the CFL. Of course it costs an arm and a leg. Edison would be appalled. Not exactly illuminating the masses....

    pleasant light, great price
I've tried out a number of different makes and models of LED lightbulbs recently. I like the light from the CREE 40W equiv and 60W equiv best, which is great because they are also the least expensive thanks to the fact that they meet Energy Star requirements and thereby qualify for subsidies.

      Does Not DIM
Product does not dim with out a hum and flicker. I might have to replace the dimmer to use these bulbs.

      Buzzes with Lutron dimmers
Have had trouble finding 40W equivalent that didn't buzz with my Lutron dimmers (either CL or standard type dimmers). If using in non-dimmed location, I would recommend. Note that the dark spot at the tip (see other reviews) may be bothersome. Was very noticeable thru glass diffuser in ceiling fixture and looked funny. Would be good in table lamp up up light fixture. For 40W equiv dimmable, I found the Ecosmart 2-pack (2700K) at HD or the LA19DMLEDG2 (3000K) at Lowes didn't buzz. Note on Lutron dimmer compatibility list: dig deeper than their often updated bulb list PDF, use their "LED Product Selection Tool" on their site, which says which bulbs may suffer buzzing. I've found that the 40W equiv are more prone to buzzing than similar 60W equiv of same brand.

      Great Investment Over CFLs
We just replaced twenty of our 19 watt CFLs with the Cree 40W Equivalent Soft White (2700K) A19 Dimmable LED Light Bulbs. Not only are these bulbs brighter, but obviously more energy efficient (19W vs. 6W). Additionally, the LEDs do not have any mercury, something that the CFLs do have in them and which we did not know prior to purchasing the CFLs about four years ago. Over time, the CFLs lose their intensity, but the LEDs should not. The quality of light is top notch. We also purchased some of the sixty watt LEDs by Cree, but don't notice a huge difference. For about $10.00 each, I believe the cost savings will pay off the new bulbs in about four to five years; and they are warranted for over ten (depending on amount used). The only thing I can say negatively is that on my two lights with dimmers, when they are dimmed to between 25% and 50%, I do notice a tiny, tiny electrical buzz. I could blame that on my dimmer, fixture, or the bulb; not sure which; however, the prior CFLs that were dimmable also buzzed. All in all, I highly recommend these bulbs. If you have extra money coming your way, I think it's a great investment; especially if you are still using incandescents!!

Good light, wish they had a 75 watt equivalent
This is definitely better than the CFL's. It doesn't have to warm up which is nice. I am waiting now for the 75 watt version.

      Best LED bulbs available
After reviewing a major Consumer magazine decided to try the Cree light bulbs after several other brands were unsatisfactory due to off color. These were perfect and matched other incandescent and CFLs in other fixtures. No buzzing sounds and they are dimable. Store matched their online price saving me a trip back to pick up if I ordered them online.

LED bulbs are the way to go!
The main advantages over CFL bulbs are: Instant on, not having to worry about calling hazmat team if bulb breaks, uses less energy than CFL. Price on this bulb is good but I think it should be lower. In fact to save on energy they should lower the price of LED bulbs to help people switch from old incandescent bulbs!

Best value in an LED bulb
I saw the Cree bulbs on a display at Home Depot shortly after they were introduced last year. I was not familiar with the Cree brand at the time, but the product appeared to be of good quality and the price was good compared to other LED bulbs I had purchased. I also liked the aesthetics of these bulbs. So I said, what the hey, and bought a couple of the 40-watt equivalent and a couple of the 60-watt equivalent, all in soft white, to try them out. When I opened the packaging I found the bulbs to have excellent build quality. The globes are made of real glass with a slightly sticky, rubbery coating for protection. (I thought the coating would grab a lot of dust, but so far that hasn't been the case.) I installed the bulbs in a couple of lamps and fixtures and was very pleased with their performance. The light output is good and the color is a clear, relatively neutral white. The color isn't too yellow or too blue for my taste. I was so impressed that the next time I was at Home Depot I purchased several more. I now have a total of about 8 or 9 of these and haven't had a problem with a single one. I plan to continue incrementally replacing the incandescent and CFL bulbs in my house with these, at least until something better comes out. Over the years I have tried out a number of LED bulbs, including some highly rated bulbs from other well-known brands and even some from more obscure brands. I'm pleased that the overall quality and performance of LEDs has improved dramatically across the board, especially in the last couple of years. (I think we are finally at the point where it doesn't make sense to buy incandescent or even CFL bulbs anymore -- regardless of the government's imperious ban on incandescents that is now being phased in.) The bottom line, however, is that while there are other LED bulbs that perform as well (or even perhaps a slight bit better in a particular application), the price of the Cree bulbs is substantially lower than other LED bulbs of comparable quality and performance. I found the 40W version puts out plenty of light for most applications, especially if there are multiple bulbs in a fixture. The only reasons to step up to the 60W version would be if you prefer your room extra bright, if you have a particularly large room, or if you need to light a room (or section of a room) with a single bulb. Generally I would go with the 40W and save a couple of watts. Of course, all of this depends on your taste. I have found only one (very minor) drawback to the design of the Crees: the light comes mostly from the sides of the bulb. There isn't much light being directed from the end, or tip, of the bulb. This hasn't given me any problems, but if you have an application where you need strong light output from the tip of the bulb, such as for a downward facing reading lamp, you might want to go with something different. But for general room lighting, you can't beat the Crees. The final caveat to my review is that I haven't tested the these bulbs on a dimmer circuit, so I can't testify as to their dimming performance. I also haven't tested whether the rated energy consumption is accurate.

        Good Bulb, Great Price
Have been shopping for/trying various low-cost LED bulbs and this is the best price/performance I've found so far. I replaced three 40 watt bulbs with three of these - I have more light from 15% of the energy.

I have been using these lightbulbs for months. They are durable and bright. Cree is one of the best manufactures of LED.

Best energy efficient bulb you can buy.
Cree light bulbs were cost effective when you consider we won't be replacing them for over 20 years. Also like the protective coating to contain any broken glass, and more important, the fact that the bulb can be touched while on and not burn you. (We have grandchildren.) At least 90% of our house is now Cree lighting and our electric bill reflects lower usage rates. The best bang for your money!

Light is so much like incandescent
I love that this bulb throws the light in all directions and has the same warm glow of an incandescent and provides the lumens you need in a 40 watt equivalent. So glad the prices are coming down. Only drawback is the size of the neck. I wasn't able to use in my bathroom exhaust/light combination that is 14 feet up because of the neck. I'd suggest you buy one and test it out in your different fixtures so you know where it will fit.

        Good Replacement Bulb
I used these in my bathroom to replace some globes over the vanity. They do not have light the whole way around, the top of the bulb is kind of dimmed. They produce plenty of light and Home Depot's price was great for what I got. Overall, I am very pleased.

        Nice light!
The price point for LEDs is coming down, making them an attractive alternative to CFLs and incandescent bulbs. The Cree LEDs are well made, dimmable, and can be used indoors and out. The only negative, so far, has been that the light occasionally flickers for a very brief time.

        Great LED Bulb
Originally purchased Philips 60w equivalent (800 Lumens 3000 kelvin) to replace 3 60w incandescent bulbs in vanity downward fixture. They were too bright. I also read reviews that those bulbs are known to fail after a few months. Perhaps because they are made in China. I have many Cree fixtures in cans throughout the house. I have had many of them now for a few years and I love them. I returned the Philips bulbs and bought these Cree bulbs. The light output, distribution and 2700 kelvin is perfect. You cannot even tell the bulbs were changed except for the fact they are larger than the especially small incandescent bulbs that were there. They are not on a dimmer switch so I cannot comment on their dimming ability. I just bought them yesterday so I cannot comment on longevity. Cree makes a great LED that is assembled in the USA. I highly recommend.

          Great Bulbs..
I have bought several of these over the last year. No problems with any of them. Far superior to the CFL bulbs. They are on without any delay, which is a major flaw of most CFLs. The coated glass protects them from breaking and they run cool to the touch. The color of the light is very much the same as the old style bulbs. I have some hanging upside down and have had not experienced any issues as one previous reviewer mentioned. I have have replaced the burned out 60W incandescent bulbs with these 40W bulbs and I am happy with the light levels. One downside is the dimming, they are dimmable but at a different pace than the incandescent bulbs. Great product from a US manufacturer. To those that say they are expensive look at the operating costs of the old bulbs vs. these.

Nice warm color, just a few led bulbs are dimmable until 0% and this one does. A little to big on height for my lamps but works fine.
