My recommendation is based on where it item you are painting is going to be used. My experience with this product is that it will yellow when sprayed over light colors, especially when used where direct sunshine hits.

We appreciate your feedback, Tommy! If Rust-Oleum Varathane Water-Based Ultimate Polyurethane Spray was applied over a water-based paint on bare wood, the yellowing is most likely caused by the wood. The yellowing is tannins bleeding through and can be prevented by priming the surface with an oil-based primer and then using your paint and polyurethane. We also recommend applying several light, even coats a few minutes apart for the best finish.

It dried clearly and quickly for recoating. Sufficient build up for layering over vinyl appliques. Spray pattern was fine for flat surfaces but might be a little hard to control drips on vertical ones. Low or no VOC's was a benefit. I used it for cornhole game surfaces that are stored inside.

Sprays on easily and looks great dry. Would recommend doing multiple coats/applications to get whats right for you. A little pricey for the brand but overall worth the extra few bucks for small projects.

This product does not spray an even coat. I have used spray polys many times, so I am not new to using them. This product gives an orange peal surface. The can was shaken well so that isn't the problem. I believe the problem lies with the nasal, or possibly the product not dispersing evenly from the can.

I’ve used it on several shelving projects after staining and it really made the stain and wood grain pop while giving it a smooth, finished, professional look. Definitely requires 3-4 light applications, seems to yield best results when lightly sanding with 220 grit sand paper before the final coat.

This quality product has one issue to note. When spraying, the can must be kept warm. It was a 60 degree day and as the can cooled while spraying my project, the material came out in ever increasing clumps and did not cover well. Heating the can under warm water resulted in a better spray pattern and even coverage.
