I bought this to secure a horizontal cedar 4x4 to a vertical cedar 4x4 of a mailbox post. It worked well. They are not coming apart.

they were uses to make some trusses and seems to be holding well. I would purchase them again. now delivery is a different issues.

Tried joining 2 pieces of plywood shelving 2' seam using three 3x6 mending plates. Sadly, the gauge of steel is not thick enough to retain it's shape - hammer in 1 spot makes a dent in the plate, almost impossible to hammer the whole thing in as one spot bounces out while another going in. Waste of steel & time. Returning the 2 not-ruined plates.

Simpson products are first rate and their mending plates are no exception. Strong and durable and designed for the job. I keep extras of a lot of their stuff around. Very handy.

Not Effective in My Case
I tried these ties on 2x4 in an older house, c 1970s. The 2x4s are pine and the spikes on the ties would not even penetrate.

The MP is for non-structural applications only; not for truss applications. For installation, place the plate over two pieces of aligned wood with arrows aligned at joint and then place a wood block over the mending plate and hammer the wood block to embed the prongs.
